Many businesses use vehicle tracking devices to keep a closer watch on their employees. One enterprising company, however, requires that its customers use GPS technology. Read on to learn how Leap Auto Loans incorporates GPS tracking into its business model.
Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Leap’s offices in sunny San Diego to learn more about the new company. Although based in California, Leap works with consumers all over the country who are facing a difficult situation: car repossession. By contracting with local vendors and implementing the latest technology, the company offers consumers lower monthly car payments that allow them to keep their vehicle and avoid situations like this:
In order to enroll in the program, customers must install a GPS tracking device in their vehicle. Should the consumers fail to pay their bill on time, Leap can activate a starter interrupter device so that the car cannot run until they receive payment. Further, Leap employees do not track the customer’s location – they only use the technology if the customer does not comply with the terms of his contract agreement.
